Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and UFC veteran Chatt Lavender visited Crossville MMA this past week and hosted a NoGi/MMA seminar for the academy.
Professor Chatt is a long time MMA veteran who has fought in the UFC and has been in the cage with multiple UFC legends, most notably UFC Hall of Famer Matt Huges and long time tenured UFC veteran Chris “Lights Out” Lytle. Chatt received his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt in 2003 and is the head coach of Monkeytown MMA in Dayton, TN.

On Monday, September 18th, Gracie Barra Black Belt Chris Torres visited Crossville MMA and hosted a really fun Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu seminar.
This past Saturday, Memento Combat Sports in Louisville, TN hosted their second in-house tournament, this time it was a NoGi only event under the ADCC rules set. This tournament was put in place to get beginners and intermediate grapplers a chance to compete in a tournament under the ADCC rules set. The ADCC, or Abu Dhabi Combat Club, tournament is the largest and most prestigious tournament in the world. It is the Olympics of Jiu-Jitsu and held every other year. The past year though, the ADCC started hosting open tournaments all over the world, and the Memento tournament was a great way for athletes to get exposed to the rule-set that the ADCC tournaments use. Crossville MMA had big victories over multiple days this past weekend. On Friday night, Crossville MMA's Dawson Dillard had his second Jr's MMA bout in a Lighweight match-up against Georgia's Brayan Ortiz at Aries Fight Series 18 in Knoxville, TN at Cotton Eye'd Joes. Dawson picked up a unanimous decision victory in a very close fight and has improved his record to 2-0 and remains undefeated! On Saturday, Crossville MMA members Bryston Collier and Leksi Wearing competed in the American Grappling Federation event held at MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN. Bryston brought home 2nd Place medals in the Teen's White Belt Gi Lightweight Division and Teen's White Belt NoGi Lightweight Division. He also brought home 2nd Place medals in the Teen's White Belt Absolute Division and the Teen's White Belt NoGi Absolute Division. Crossville's very own Chrystal Massey will be making her amateur kickboxing debut on Friday, May 12th when she steps into the cage with the undefeated Reem Awad at Aries Fight Series 17 at Cotten Eye'd Joes in Knoxville, TN! Reem Awad is an undefeated fighter competing out of Georgia with a 1-0 record. Chrystal Massey will be stepping into the cage for the first official time looking to start off her career with a win, while also giving Awad her first loss. Chrystal has had two exhibition bouts where she went 2-0 with two TKO's and we will be looking for much of the same from her on May 12th. Crossville MMA took members to Knoxville on February 25th, 2023 to compete at the Grappling Industries event being held at the Knoxville Convention Center and brought home almost a dozen medals.
Crossville MMA has promoted its FIRST Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt as Crossville MMA founder and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu head coach DJ Mackie was promoted on Thursday, January 26th, 2023 to the rank of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt by Professor Julio 'Sandy' Rodriguez.
